The erection of a new hangar building at the airport in Innsbruck required a roofed area of 34 x 68 m and one support-free long side. As well as a conceptual solution offering a statically clear and realizable construction, this project is additionally designed with the intention of creating a building with simple and symbolic geometry; the visibility from above is regarded as an important aspect not only because of the presence of aeroplanes, but also results from topographical considerations incorporating the surrounding mountain chain.
